Discernment Counseling

 Discernment Counseling is a specialized way to work with mixed-agenda couples when one spouse/partner is leaning out of the relationship and ambivalent about working on it, and the other is leaning in, wanting to save the relationship.

 

The goals of discernment counseling are assisting the couple in gaining greater clarity and confidence in their decision making about the future of their marriage, based on a deeper understanding of what's happened to their marriage and each person's contributions to the problems.

This is a short term approach one to five sessions. 

​

As the couple gains clarity of the path they which to proceed they can continue with the same counselor and/or offer referrals as needed.
